2024 Teen Mental Wellness Community Forum
The SLV Optimists are sponsoring again this year the Teen Mental Wellness Community Forum. This year it will be Sunday May 5th, 2024, located at the Metro Detroit Youth Clubs Field Zone in Southfield. Those interested in submitting an essay will need to fill out the application and turn it in by Monday, April 22.

2024 Oratorical Contest Winners!
The Southfield-Lathrup Village Optimist Club had their annual Oratorical Contest on March 16. Congratulations to our two winners Jaidon & Jordan James! They will be moving on to the District Regionals.

Double Good Popcorn Fundraiser
The Southfield-Lathrup Village Optimist Club has partnered with Double Good Popcorn to raise funds for the club’s Oratorical Contest, Youth Programs and Community Activities. Click HERE to order your delicious popcorn and support the Southfield community! Fundraising is from March 14 - March 18.

Servicing the community since May 8, 1979
The Southfield-Lathrup Village Optimist Club has been serving the communities of Southfield and Lathrup Village since May 8, 1979. Our motto is FRIEND OF YOUTH – our vision is “BY PROVIDING HOPE AND POSITIVE VISION, OPTIMISTS BRING OUT THE BEST IN YOUTH, COMMUNITIES AND OURSELVES”. The club promotes programs and activities to recognize and encourage the youth in our community.
The Southfield-Lathrup Village Optimist Club is made up of local volunteers and community leaders that support and implement several programs and projects throughout the year. We are proud to have sponsored the Michigan District $2,500 Oratorical Contest Scholarship Winner in 2020!
Plans are underway for two great contests in 2023 where students will again have a chance to first compete at the club level between January - March 2023.
